yep... Rebs joined the Cumberland in 86; Lee opened in 89.

Did you not notice Phil talked to the kids during the timeouts for the offense and Travis did nothing."
Look, if that's really true, then Travis really is incompetent. Is it too much to ask that the "architect" of the offense actually say something once in a while or do something to coach the kids or put them in a better position to be successful? If indeed Travis did, in your words, "nothing" then he should be released in favor of someone who knows something about coaching football.
There's no question that travis was an excellent player, but he's not his father. To give this guy a head coaching job like this without any prior head coaching experience is stupid and speaks to the political environment surrounding the decision making. Palmer was a far better choice, but gone are the days when Wise County actually valued choosing the best person for a job. This is gonna be a debacle. He'll undo in four years what it took 25 years to build.
I wouldn't say no head coaching experience. He hasnt been a football HC, but he has done a solid job as a softball HC. IMO, in HS good coaches generally can transition to other sports if they have experience in that sport. That doesn't mean they will be great at it, but they probably won't be terrible either.
